After I exchanged numbers with Pony Tail, I was still reluctant to give this English as a Second Language Learner a chance—but, I was also starved for male affection. The past few months have been rough, to say the least. My aunt went into cardiac arrest in January and has yet to recover, then a short month later I experienced the tragic loss of my good friend and ex, Adan. I was hoping going out with Pony Tail would help me forget, if only temporarily.

I sat with my prima in DR Lounge sipping a Bacardi and Coke when two young men approached us. One wore his hair in a ponytail while the other looked like the rest and sported a clean cut. Pony Tail immediately asked me to dance. He led me to the small dance floor and spun me throug a great salsa song. I was impressed with his skills: A man who can dance salsa is sexy! And then, he opened his mouth.

I love being a woman and celebrating sisterhood, but sometimes I want to shake some of my fellow hermanas. There is just way too much competition amongst women. We sharpen our claws when a cutie passes by and let us not forget how quickly some women turn on each other when success comes a knocking. Can we just put down the haterade?

I’ve always been haunted by my ex-boyfriends. Even if they did me dirty or just weren't that into me; they always come back into my life somehow.

The latest ex to pop back into my life was my first serious boyfriend. First BF and I were together for seven months in 2003. It ended because we were in different places. He was reveling in politics while I was left wondering if our passions and interests aligned. We parted ways, but not before taking a "break," having lots of break-up sex, yelling and crying buckets of tears (unfortunately me, not him).
