Love It:
Money $: On this particular Friday night the party costs $10. But it depends on the promoter for the night. Drinks are average price. A beer is $6.
At a Glance: East Harlem is moving on up! You do not have to worry about a rowdy, young crowd. The venue was filled with grown and sexy Latinos. The music was a good mix of old school and new party jams.
Therapists say that a family that laughs together is a family that grows and develops together. Well, here at Lovemionline.com (LMO) we do things a little differently. We don’t only laugh together, but we also party, drink and dance together. We get down and create smoke on the dance floor, and last Friday was no exception. A few of us from LMO strengthened our bond by getting together to support Sujeiry in one of her notorious performances about her pepa.

Sujeiry (Love Trips), Gonzo (Hubby vs Player), Darissa (Love Mi Girl), and myself (Discover with Irene) met at the casual Milk Lounge on 2nd avenue, between 105th and 106th street. A few of our devoted family members also came out to show their lovel. This is where I must thank Natasha, Taisha, and Yolie for coming out, supporting, and having a good time with us.
Because none of us had been to Milk Lounge before, we could only guess what it would be like. As the name suggests, I assumed everything would be white and extremely posh. Gonzo thought it would be a gay club (I laughed at the milky thought). Sujeiry thought it would be pretty. In some way, we were all correct, except for Gonzo. Milk Lounge caters to all people, but it is definitely not classified as a “gay club.”
As you walk down 2nd avenue, you come upon a white door. You’d assume this is the door to enter the lounge, but you would be wrong. To enter, you have to go through Chimney BBQ, the restaurant that is next door to Milk Lounge. Then you make an immediate left and walk up the very white stairs. You have to be careful; it takes a few moments for your eyes to adjust to the blue light. But when you finally arrive, you see that the lounge lives up to its name. Everything is white, and the blue light accentuates its whiteness. (Note: Check your clothes for lint or you will look like a linty mess.) The only other color was the red of the brick wall that surrounded the windows.
The show started with comedian Chris Diaz, spouting his usual sidesplitting routine about Latinos, old men with saggy, butt-revealing jeans, and Haitian women. He is hilarious! After his routine, he introduced Sujeiry and numerous other talented individuals, including The Crowd, The Poet G, and other hip-hop artists. Their was an amazing array of talent. After the performances, salsa music blasted through the speakers. Everyone walked off the dance floor and went to the bar. This is where I come in.
I love to dance, so Gonzo and I decided to get this party started. We sashayed our way over the entire dance floor. I usually can hold my own when it comes to salsa, but Gonzo is a professional. He can dance his ass off! In true LMO style, we broke the ice and brought the house down! After a few more drinks, people streamed onto the dance floor. They began to dance and have a good time. Everyone was in great spirits. The music was classic; the drinks were strong; and people were bumping and grinding. Then, out of nowhere, a cloud of smoke was released from the floor. I felt like I was in Webster Hall again. The smoke was cutting off my air supply and, to be honest, the use of the smoke machines was a bit tacky. That’s the only negative thing I have to say about Milk.
So what’s my final say? Milk Lounge is a hidden East Harlem gem that provides good music, good drinks, and good ambiance. It’s not huge or overly trendy. Guys can wear jeans and sneakers, but in good taste, and girls can wear whatever they want. (Girls always have it easy; sorry guys). So, if you want a fun and easygoing night out, check out Milk Lounge.
Happy Exploring!!!
