I'm a licensed cosmetologist and am here to give you some quick tips and makeup ideas so you can get your groove on, groove back or just feel groovy for you and only you. Plus, I’ll teach you how to apply makeup and work trends while holding onto your purse strings. In these tough economic times, buying makeup shouldn’t break the bank!
Let's begin with something sexy and flirty that we in the makeup industry call "Cat Eyes". This is a classic look used most notably by Marylin Monroe. Amy Winehouse also uses this style but takes it to an entirely different level. Unless you're at a costume party, you don't need her exaggerated eyewear, but to each is own!
The “Cat Eye” look that I am presenting today is for the evening, perhaps to hypnotize a man in the bedroom. No matter what your eye shape, this look gives a "come hither" look when applied correctly. But be warned! Your “Cat Eye” will catch any man's eye. Hopefully the cute ones will buy you drinks instead of the old geezers who have no business drinking anything but Prune juice.
Here is what you’ll need:
- Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner - by WET N WILD - $3.99
- Angle Brush - by DESIGNER PERFECT - $3.49
- C51 Ebony Eyeshadow (black eyeshadow) - by PRESTIGE - $3.95
- Nutmeg Eyeshadow - by IMAN - $7.99
- Black Mascara - by N.Y.C. - $3.99
Step 1: Pre-apply the Nutmeg Eyeshadow to your eye. Dab the angle brush into the C51 Ebony Eyeshadow (black eyeshadow) and begin from the inside corner. Proceed and follow your natural crease as a guideline when I applying the black eyeshadow.
Step 2: Take the angle brush and bring the black eyeshadow down at an angle to the middle of the eye.
Step 3: Take a smaller angle brush and dip it into the Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner to discard the excess. Place the brush in the inside corner of your eye and proceed to follow your eyelid, bringing the brush up to an angle at the corner. This gives a swoosh.
Step 4: After you bring the brush up, bring it back down and make the line a bit thicker at the corner end of her eye.
Step 5: Use the Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner and small angle brush. Apply the cream eyeliner under your eyes from the outside corner in.
Step 6: When using the Black Mascara, apply it with closed eye to the tips of your lashes. Then open your eyes and apply the Mascara to your full lashes. This will elongate your lashes.
Step 7: I always complete an eye look by filling in the eyebrows simply by using an eyeshadow color similar to that of the eyebrow color itself. Use an angle brush and lightly add in the color.
Step 8: Your finished “Cat Eye” look!
